This gob cap was worn by United States Navy personnel. The US Navy gob cap was first introduced in 1917 and continues to be used by navy personnel today. As sections of the US Navy were based in Australia during the Second World War, gob caps and the “Yanks” who wore them were familiar sights to Australians.
