Day in the life...

While the work of the UN can be dangerous it can also be very difficult and challenging. Like any job there are lots of times when nothing much seems to happen. Peacekeeping involves a lot of looking, listening and protecting.

Teacher Notes: Use an overhead projector to display the reproductions of these 6 artworks from the Australian War Memorial's Peacekeeping Exhibition. Allow your students 15 seconds to look at each work. Then ask them the following questions:

  1. Write down what is happening in as many of the paintings as you can.
     
  2. Write down seven things that you do during a normal day.
     
  3. How is your day different to that of a peacekeeper?
