During the Second World War German Panzer generals were lionised by propaganda companies, and were seen by many at home as dashing princes leading their armoured knights into combat. However the story, as is often the case, is a far cry from the reality. David Stahel provides an illuminating look into the careers of several of Germany’s most recognisable Panzer generals, including Heinz Guderian. He reveals the way these men were able to manipulate public opinion, garner accolades and most importantly, further their careers.
