Souvenir pennant : HMAS Vendetta (II)
Triangular blue felt pennant whith both loops missing at the hoist. Screen printed in red and white the ships badge shows a forearm proper with fist clenching a dagger pointing downward. A rope circle encompasses this, surmounted by the Naval Crown and scroll work which should read Vendetta but has faded. Underneath is a boomerang and two clubs, beneath is scroll work and the motto which should read ‘VINDICO’ but has faded. 'HMAS VENDETTA' is printed to the right of the badge.
This pennant was made as a souvenir for the crew of the HMAS Vendetta (II). HMAS Vendetta (II) was launched on the 3 May 1954, by Mrs Waller, widow of this late Captain H.M.L. Waller DSO RAN, and was the first and only RAN Daring Class destroyer to go to war. She also made Australian naval history by becoming the first all-Australian ship to serve in a combat zone.
