Description

The launch of a Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) from HMAS Parramatta. The ANZAC-class frigate was on patrol around KAAOT, one of two Iraqi off-shore oil platforms and the closest to Iranian-claimed waters. One of a series of photographs taken aboard HMAS Parramatta by Mal Booth, Head of the Australian War Memorial's Research Centre, as part of the Memorial's Curators in the Field program. This program continues the Memorial's tradition of documenting Australia's experience of war, through observing the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and collecting records, photographs, oral histories and objects for the Memorial's National Collection.
