Description

This file contains reports, telegrams, maps and articles related to Gallipoli and the Western Front during the First World War. Included in this file are Turkish documents and reports from interviews with Turkish officers after the war. This file also includes material from 1900, as well as some post-war material, particularly forewords written by Field Marshal Lord William Birdwood for inclusion in publications. Some of the correspondence in this file relates to Vice Admiral John Michael de Robeck as Vice Admiral Eastern Mediterranean Squadron, and Brigadier General Thomas Henry Dodds as Administrative Commandant Australian Imperial Force. Also included in this file are telegrams relating to the replacement of Imperial Officers with Australian officers and reports from Turkish officers on the evacuation from Anzac and Helles. This file of papers has been identified as Item 8 on the original list compiled by Birdwood headed “Contents”. This original list can be found in 3DRL/3376 11/15 File 1.
