Wedmore, England. Informal portrait of Lieutenant Howard Dudley Reid GM and Bar, RANVR, attached to the Enemy Mining Section at HMS Vernon. He is standing beside the first German Type C aerial magnetic mine to be recovered intact. A parachute and shrouds partly cover the half buried mine. This portrait was previously believed to be of Lieutenant Hugh Randall Syme GC GM and Bar, RANVR.
